Position Announcement:  OFFICE MANAGER

FMC, the assocation of Former Members of Congress Association is a bipartisan, nonprofit, voluntary alliance of former Senators and Representatives.  We work to strengthen the Congress in the conduct of its Constitutional responsibility through promoting a collaborative approach to policy making.  We seek to deepen the understanding of our democratic system and to encourage the citizenry through civic education about Congress and public service. Former Members work together on a bipartisan basis, donating their time pro bono to support Congress as an institution and current Members in their legislative work.

FMC is seeking an energetic professional who does not mind wearing multiple hats.  The Office Manager is responsible for the administrative, financial, human resources, and benefits administration functions for the organization and its full time staff of 10+ professionals. 


  • Proficiency in MS Office, Slack, and QuickBooks.  Experience using Asana or similar project management software is a plus.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop.  Payroll is handled through ADP, but the Office Manager needs to support the CEO in recording the association’s financial transactions in a transparent and efficient manner that yields a smooth annual audit by an independent auditor.

  • Basic knowledge of HR processes and best practices.

  • Basic knowledge of benefits administration processes and best practices.

  • Interest and experience identifying and implementing processes and procedures to improve work efficiency and productivity.

  • Ability to problem-solve independently.

  • Team player for a very collegial team of 10+ professionals.

  • Must be resourceful, independent, creative, and excited to work in a fast-paced environment.


  • Maintain and develop organizational procedures and systems for office personnel, including filing, accounts payable, HR, and budgeting, with as-needed support from external consultants.Input into QuickBooks all financial transactions, manage accounts payable and receivable, record all credit card transactions, assist CEO in producing financial reports for the board of directors, on an annual basis support audit by an independent auditor.

  • Business licensing and reporting.

  • Greeting and hosting visitors, clients, and employees, managing incoming and outgoing mail, signing for packages.

  • Oversee onboarding of new employees.

  • Maintain handbook on policies and procedures and serve as resource to employees on employee manual questions.

  • Answer day-to-day employee questions regarding benefits or payroll and fulfill requests.

  • Handle sensitive employee information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion.

  • Support FMC team through office management such as ordering supplies.

  • Serve as FMC’s first impression when former Members of Congress, sponsors, partners and others visit with the organization.
