FMC Mourns The Loss Of President George H.W. Bush
41st President also served in United States House of Representatives

(Washington, D.C.) – FMC, the association of former Members of the United States Congress, joins the nation in mourning the passing of our 41st President, George H.W. Bush. We extend to the Bush Family our deepest sympathies during this sad time.

President Bush was a patriot and a true public servant. Starting as a young naval aviator, who was shot down in the Pacific during World War II, and continuing for the rest of his professional life, Bush dedicated himself to serving his community, his state and his country. Some of us had the privilege of serving with him in the House of Representatives, or working with him as he oversaw the Central Intelligence Agency, became Vice President and eventually was elected 41st President of the United States.

We can attest that President Bush’s public persona did not differ from how he conducted himself in private: a man of unassailable integrity, a man who deeply cared about those in need, a man whose love for country was only surpassed by his love for his wife and family, and a leader who could combine compassion and good humor with steely resolve and vision.

He was a blessing to our country and his type of leadership guided by a clear moral compass will be sorely missed.
