What’s wrong with Congress? How do we fix it?

No matter their party, their age, their gender, or anything else that separates Americans, one question unites them: “Why isn’t Congress doing something about this?”

We all ask it, to ourselves, and to others, about all kinds of issues, from potholes to pot, from neighborhood schools to nuclear weapons.

Congress is divided, possibly more than ever before. FMC wanted to find out why. So, we interviewed 31 Members who left Congress in 2018 and 2019, from both sides of the aisle. Over hours and hours of interviews, we learned how Congress works, what goes wrong when it doesn’t, and the importance of Members of Congress working together to make it work better.

The results of our interviews are here, in a publication we’ve entitled “Congress at a Crossroads.” We hope you’ll read the report, learn something from it, and when you’re done, tell others what you’ve learned on Twitter. Use the hashtag #CongressXroads and we’ll show America what our voters think is wrong with Congress.

Together, maybe we can fix it.
